Volunteer

Camp Quest South Carolina is staffed and run entirely by adult volunteers (ages 18 and up) who take a time off of work or school to guide, challenge, listen to, chase after, and play outside with a big group of energetic, freethinking kids (and energetic, freethinking kids-at-heart!). Most Camp Quest volunteers love the experience so much that they keep coming back year after year.

If you are interested in helping plan either the weekend or the summer camp, we welcome your involvement! This is a great opportunity for those who’d like to help the cause, but who may not be in love with the idea of spending a week camping or with kids. :) Please email us at SouthCarolina@campquest.org to let us know what areas you would like to help with. Planning groups include fundraising/outreach/media, administrative/logistics, and activities/programs planning.

If you are interested in being on staff this fall for the weekend family camp or next summer for the regular week-long camp, please complete the Online Staff Application Form.

Senior camp staff will review the applications on a rolling basis and accept new staff as needed, based on qualifications and the number of camper registrations.

Please note that all staff positions are unpaid volunteer positions.   This applies to both the weekend family camp as well as the week-long summer camp. Staff must also arrive at camp a day early, one day before the start of camp.

Types of Volunteer Staff Positions

  • Cabin Counselors stay at camp for the full session, sleep in the cabins with the kids (and at least one co-counselor), and participate in activities and programs with the campers and other counselors throughout the day. This is the most high-energy position, but also potentially the most rewarding.
  • Program Leaders plan, coordinate, and run one or more programs or activities during the week of camp. Some Program Leaders come to camp for a day or half-day, while others double as Cabin Counselors and stay at camp all week. If you’re interested in participating in Camp Quest but can’t commit to being at camp for the full week, please consider being a Program Leader. We are happy to help you brainstorm and/or refine program activities suitable for the camp setting and the age range of our campers.
  • Other positions…if you have specific skills not listed above that you think could be helpful at camp, please let us know!
