Camp Quest Inc. Seeks New Executive Director

Camp Quest, Inc. seeks a full time Executive Director to lead a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit that supports a growing network of independently operated Camp Quest programs across North America. Our mission is Camp Quest provides an educational adventure shaped by fun, friends and freethought, featuring science, natural wonder and humanist values. Based in the values of integrity, empathy, creativity, critical thinking, and community, Camp Quest envisions a world in which children grow up exploring, thinking for themselves, connecting with their communities, and acting to make the most of life for themselves and others. Reporting to the Camp Quest Inc. Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have the operational responsibility to steer major projects to successful completion and develop an annual fundraising strategy to sufficiently support staff, programs, and any future expansion needed to achieve the mission of Camp Quest. The Executive Director would be the sole employee of Camp Quest Inc., so ability to accomplish tasks independently and engage volunteers to develop collaborations for the network will be keys to success in the position.


Fundraising and Promotions 50%

  • Responsible for developing an annual fundraising plan and/or developing fee for service opportunities to sufficiently raise the funds needed to meet the annual budget
  • Donor cultivation and Data management
  • Serve as the primary public representative of Camp Quest at presentations, events, conferences, and interviews
  • Grant writing

Social media Organizational Leadership and Management 40%

  • Ensuring overall programmatic and operational quality
  • Affiliate communications
  • Providing general oversight and support in training, managing, and troubleshooting for local camps, including coordination of the annual Camp Quest Leadership Summit
  • Board development, communication, and engagement
  • Supervises policy development and implementation
  • Coordinate with the board to develop and execute a strategic plan for the organization

Administration 10%

  • Government compliance
  • Financial oversight and budgeting
  • Contractor relationships and contracts

Skills and Experience: At least 3 years professional experience or involvement in the nonprofit community, with experience in direct fundraising asks required; Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers strongly preferred; Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities are also required; Familiarity with the secular community and Camp Quest preferred; Ability to work with various learning styles, exhibit diplomacy and conflict resolution skills, and strong personal initiative expected; Experience with Google Docs, Microsoft Office applications and social networking tools.

Position Requirements:

  • Will work from home
  • Ability to work 4-5 evenings per month for conference calls for board and committee meetings
  • Ability to work some weekends for visiting camp locations and attending conferences
  • Serve as a volunteer at a camp location for 1-2 weeks each summer


  • Full time position Salary Range – $37,500 – $42,500
  • Stipend offered for Health/Dental Benefits Flexibility to create own schedule (outside of required meetings/events listed above)

  • Nationwide base of over 400 volunteers from 13 affiliate camp organizations
